Customers are the people your organization serves through rentals, sales, memberships, and related payments. In Patio, the customer profile is a central record used across checkout, check-in, orders, and transactions.
Customer selection is usually the first operational step before checkout. If customer data is incomplete or duplicated, downstream actions become error-prone: orders are harder to trace, payments can be linked incorrectly, and reporting becomes less reliable.
A customer profile is the operational identity of a member in your workspace. It is used to connect:
Contact details and identity
Checkout and check-in activity
Order history and status
Subscription or membership context
Transaction and balance history
Create or find
Staff first search for an existing customer to avoid duplicates.
If none exists, they create a new customer profile.
Operate
Customer profile is selected during checkout.
Orders and returns are recorded against the same customer.
Reconcile
Transactions and financial adjustments are linked back to customer history.
Maintain
Contact and profile data is kept up to date for future operations.
Search before creating a new profile.
Keep contact information current.
Use one canonical profile per person.
Record notes or context consistently when policy allows.
Creating duplicate customers because of narrow search criteria.
Using incomplete profiles for checkout.
Linking transactions to the wrong customer record.
