Patio is built around a simple idea: borrowing should be as easy as buying, whether it’s from a neighbor, a tool library, or a repair café nearby. We bring the circular economy together on one platform.
We are committed to making sharing as easy as buying, to building tools that work for everyone from a neighbor to a rental operation with many locations, and to shaping Patio around the real needs of the people using it. That is what we are here for.
In practice, that means professional software for libraries, repair cafés, nonprofits, and rental operations of every size, paired with peer to peer sharing and sharing spaces built by their members. One platform, one simple experience, for everyone from a neighbor lending a drill to a busy rental operation.
Most of what we own gets used a handful of times in its whole life. The drill in the garage. The pressure washer in the basement. They cost money, take up space, and sit idle while a neighbor pays for the same thing. Sharing should be the obvious choice. It saves money, reduces waste, and strengthens communities one borrowed item at a time.
Sharing is local by nature. The tool library three blocks over, the repair café down the street, the neighbor with a garage of weekend tools: they only work if you can find them. We build Patio for the people and places that already make sharing work, and to make them easy to discover. The closer the network, the easier the share.
We built Patio with field input from the start, shaped around the real pain points people brought to us: tool libraries stuck in spreadsheets, rental operators buried in calls, neighbors giving up on a listing because the process took too long. We keep working to make Patio as simple and efficient as buying. If you have something to tell us, we want to hear it.
Patio is built by a team based in Quebec, Canada, led by cofounders Julien and Joel. We came at this from different professional experiences, software engineering and marketing, with the same conviction: sharing has always worked, and good software can make it work better. We are looking for partners, feedback, and people who care about the same thing. If that is you, get in touch.
